UPDATE 2022: The Sofitel Marara Beach Bora Bora is currently closed. It is unknown when the resort will re-open.
Bora Bora Sofitel dining is available on both sides of the lagoon, at both the Marara Beach and the Private Island resort. If you book accommodation (with a meal plan) at Marara beach, you can also pay a surcharge to have an evening meal over on the more exclusive motu resort.
And if your bungalow is on the motu you can freely boat across the lagoon to have lunch alongside the gorgeous swimming pool. Plus the location of the Sofitel resort gives you easy access to other eating places on the main island.
Marara's main building, comprised of 3 high, palm leaf domes, has the Bora Bora Sofitel Marara beach restaurant, Latitude 16° sheltered under one of it's thatched peaks.
Lucky diners at Marara Beach restaurant enjoy an unsurpassed 180° aspect across the lagoon. Out to the Sofitel Private Island and all the way down to the sandy point of Matira Beach!
With the infinity pool as the foreground.
Until January 2011 all Bora Bora Sofitel dining (except breakfast) was on the mainland at Marara Beach. Now Private Island guests can dine in the evenings without calling a boat. Breakfast and dinner is served in the heavenly ambiance of Manu Tuki.
Theme nights, featuring traditional cuisine, make Bora Bora Sofitel dining options more entertaining. Monday was Italian night at the time of our visit. Tuesday's specialty dining experience was Polynesian. And it's worth going to.
Wet your appetite for the succulent feasting on weekly Bora Bora Sofitel Polynesian barbecue night. The slow food movement could've been modeled on the Polynesian way of life.
While on excursions we had wondered why we occasionally saw a thin trail of smoke, way in the distance, emerging from between trees. A traditional oven is prepared a few hours before meal time. The meat, buried in coals and ashes, cooks very slowly and gently, locking in all the juices for succulent feasting.
In the afternoon you can opt to paint a traditional pareo and later, after it's dried, wear your colorful, handmade creation to dinner.
We saw afternoon preparations but missed out on the feast because we had booked for Villa Mahana on that night. This is one of the best Sofitel activities, so if you're booking the Sofitel, check out the weekly program before making other arrangements.
Celebrating a special occasion or looking for a really big romantic idea? Perhaps you're having your honeymoon in Bora Bora or planning to propose. We suggest booking a private meal on the Sofitel motu. You can choose to have it on the beach (like we did) or be wowed by the bird's eye views from the Private Island hilltop. Read about the lunch of our lives under a palm tree, right on the sand, near the water's edge. Complete with white table cloth and fine French wines! And impeccable service.
Stroll, bike, or taxi down the Circle Island Road, just outside the hotel door, and you'll find more Bora Bora Sofitel dining choices, including cheaper options for eating in Bora Bora. Find out which of these fascinating Bora Bora restaurants you want to try. Each gives a unique experience that is quite different to back home.
Leave your fast paced living behind before you get on flights to Tahiti. Everything happens more slowly here. So the Bora Bora Sofitel dining service may not be as slick as at your usual restaurant back home.
The secret to an exceptional Bora Bora vacation is appreciating the extraordinary beauty of the world's most beautiful island and the gentle nature of the friendly, Polynesians. Relax into the spirit of paradise.
