Hi,
My husband and I will be arriving on a cruise ship in April and would like to book a land-based circular island tour (preferably not a 4x4 tour - just a taxi or small van. Can you tell us how to get in touch with some of the providers? I know the ship has similar tours but they are sold out. Will there be taxi drivers or guides with taxis or vans who will come to the pier when the ship arrives and solicit customers?
Thank you in advance.
Michele G.
Bora Bora Island Guide's Response:
Hi Michele,
Yes there certainly will be taxis by the dock waiting to take cruise ship passengers to wherever they would like to go. Bora Bora is a small island, so a drive around the Circle Island road will only take a short time, depending on how many stops you take.
You might like to consider hiring a car for 4 hours and driving yourself around the island. Avis car rentals are available.
The best way to see Bora Bora is on a circle island boat tour, but if you are not up for being on the water here's what we would recommend you do with your time on the island:
- Visit Matira Beach
- Visit Bloody Mary's restaurant
- Stroll through the market in Vaitape (right where the tender drops you off)
- Visit the art galleries and shops in Vaitape
- Visit the Bora Bora yacht club and enjoy a fresh Pina Colada by the water
