Money exchange

by Nina

Hi,
I will be coming to Bora Bora soon and would like to learn the money exchange.

What is 1 US dollar in their money?

Thank you
Nina

Bora Bora Island Guide's response

Hi Nina,

In the French Polynesian Islands, including Bora Bora, they use the Pacific Franc which has the code XPF. If you go to a currency conversion website like XE you will be able to get an accurate rate for today. As a rough guide $1USD is about 90XPF. But this does change, so have a look when you are booking and also when you are going for your vacation.

Have a wonderful vacation!

Exchange in tahiti or us
by: K

I'm visiting next week. Is it better to exchange in US or tahiti.
If it's better in tahiti do I go to the airport bank or a local bank to get the best exchange rate.
If I use my credit card will I have an equal exchange rate.

current exchange US to Polynesian Franc NEW
by: Canadian Traveller

dec.08, 2022 current exchange is 1 US Dollar = 1.13 via credit card or ATM machine.
Money changers will give you 1.01 per 1 US dollar less a exchange fee that varies from $8.00 or even more for every exchange. For example if you exchange $100.00 US they will give you $101.00
less $8.00 = $93.00 Polynesian francs - almost 20% less than if you paid the bill like dinner with a
US no exchange fee credit card from the US.

Hope this helps.
